Niagara Wheatfield Families,
The first snowflakes have landed and our school year is in
full swing. As adults we try to slow
down time, even though it seems each year passes faster than the last. On the other hand, our children seem to look
ahead excitedly for each New Year.
At this point in the school year students have become
familiar with their new teachers, schedules, and daily routine. Our teachers have made connections with their
students, and better understand individual strengths and weaknesses. Our staff is working collaboratively to
create a safe, clean and student friendly learning environment.
Our Building Principals will share their Comprehensive
School Educational Planning (CSEP) goals at our upcoming Board of Education
meetings. The CSEP goals align with the
following Comprehensive District Educational Planning (CDEP) goals:
scope and sequence maps will be developed. Professional development
will include vertical alignment of common curriculum.
2. Utilize assessment data at all levels to inform instructional decisions.
3. Implement and evaluate Academic Intervention Services (AIS) and
Response to Intervention (RTI) program.
4.The District will implement a plan to increase engagement in the
The results of the recent Capital Project vote will enable
us to begin much needed roofing work in the summer of 2017, with the second
phase of the project expected to commence the summer of 2018. Technicians are finalizing the installation
of over 200 Wireless Access Points in our schools. The increased wireless access will allow
greater flexibility in the use of current and future technology.
With the holiday season upon us I hope you have time to reconnect
with family and friends, and reflect on those things for which you are thankful. Finally, I hope 2017 proves to be an
outstanding year for our students and families.
Wishing you the Happiest of Holidays,
Daniel G. Ljiljanich

WELCOME TO OUR DISTRICT...
Niagara Wheatfield Central
School District is comprised of four (4) towns – Town of Wheatfield, Town of
Niagara, Town of Lewiston, and the Town of Cambria. Currently our K-12 student enrollment is just
over 3,600. The District has four (4) elementary
schools – Colonial Village Elementary School, West Street Elementary School,
Errick Road Elementary School, and the Tuscarora Indian Elementary School. The District has one large middle school
(Edward Town Middle School) and one high school. In addition to the core academic programs, we
also host a variety of extra-curricular activities. Over the past ten (10) years the District has
been heavily involved in capital improvements.
Major additions have been added to several of our schools in addition to
various upgrades in each of the schools and transportation facility. The community has been most supportive of our
need to keep our schools in good physical condition. The Board of Education and the Superintendent
have placed our primary focus on the improvement of student achievement. The District will utilize a Comprehensive
District Educational Plan (strategic planning) for the sole purpose of giving
focus to student achievement.
